After School / Summer Camp Program
The After School Program provides a safe and comprehensive program for children ages 6-12. The typical
program day includes transportation to YWCA program site(s), healthy snack, homework assistance, tutoring,
physical activities, arts and crafts, and lifestyle education. The after school day is 2:30-6pm. Extended
care is provided for school half-days and many school holidays, to accommodate parents’ work schedules.
Summer camp is an 8-week program, featuring math and reading enrichment, literacy games, Olympics, sports,
swimming, arts and crafts, and field trips. Summer camp is available for children ages 6-14 years. Kids
12-14 years are 'counselors-in-training.' They receive first aid and CPR certification, and shadow a more
experienced counselor. There is weekly special programming for the CITs, involving career preparation,
lifestyle counseling, and training.
